Interests - Varied! My rather unusual extended-family living arrangement provides me the opportunity to be involved in activities ranging from a 16 year old and up! My granddaughter was a member of the Dexter Equestrian Team for four years. In 2004 they won the State MIHA Championships against 19 other Michigan districts! Now she is training her 6-year old Andalusian gelding as her new dressage horse, and she is retiring her 15 year-old Quarter Horse to a trail horse. My grandson was a member of the Dexter JV hockey team, which did quite well in 2003/2004. Now he plays bass guitar in a rock-SKA band and they hold all their practices in our barn studio! Sports activities in the Dexter schools are superb with opportunities for every age and interest. My horse, a gorgeous jet black Tennessee Walker named Shade, was my birthday present to myself a few years ago.

I' ve renovated an 1895 home in the center of town, a 1960's architect-designed passive solar and everything in between and beyond. The only criteria   is  "are there possibilities". It has been said that my favorite tool is a sledge hammer , with which I knock out walls!  We're now living in an 8 year old home on 15 acres that's becoming more eclectic as we speak.(email me about the Bamboo flooring we just installed! It's awesome.) This one has room for our four horses, two dogs, five cats, (two live in the barn), two birds and the pet rat. (Don't ask. My granddaughter is going to be a veterinarian and her father thinks we're lucky that we don't have a giraffe!)

Community activities - Always a firm believer in giving back to the community.  I've volunteered at the U. of M. Medical Center and served as President of the Board of the Friends of U. of M. Hospitals. In another venue I founded an art gallery that was a significant presence in the art community. My passion for art and children's art activities continues through involvement with the Ann Arbor Art Center and the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair.
